OddBits Reel to Reel Test Tape [½ Track - 15 IPS] - ¼ Inch Tape Width

This is a Reel to Reel ½ track test tape.
It is recorded in Stereo at 15 IPS in one direction.
Ideal for speed check, stereo check, fidelity check, level adjustment and head alignment.
Supplied with instructions. Recorded on a calibrated Reel to Reel Recorder.
The Level adjustment tone at 15 IPS has a reference flux of 180 nWb/m which is the Ampex Domestic Standard ideal for consumer machines.

Note on Ref Flux.
If you do not know the ref flux of your machine
calibrate level check to levels stated.
If your ref flux is different from 180nWb/m
then adjust the desired level up or down 1db for every 60 nWb/m.
ie if your machine is 360nWb/m calibrate levels to -13db
 
* Note on Equalisation (15 ips only):
The largest difference between NAB and IEC equalisation is in the base lift below 50HZ. This tape does not use any tones in this region so the difference is negligible.
However, for exact calibration of IEC equalisation levels please see the following adjustments:
Test Tone frequency       Adjustment to level calibration
          100-2KHz                                          + 2dB
            4KHz                                                 + 1dB
            8KHz onward                             no change
 
So a 1KHz test tone of -10dB on this tape should give -8dB on the VU meter of a machine using IEC Equalisation.
this is 15 ips only. Head alignment is unaffected by EQ.
