Audio Cassette Test Tape 4-Track head alignment/azimuth for Portastudio etc
OddBits audio cassette 4-track test tape.
Ideal for function, stereo check, fidelity check and level adjustment.
Tape bias 120µS (high bias)
Tape speed 3 3/4 ips (double domestic tape speed)
Recorded with DBX bias.
See the photo for the included tests.
Recorded on a professionally calibrated recorder.
This is not a domestic stereo tape sometimes refered to as 4 track (2 tracks in both directions) but is 4 tracks recorded in one direction for true 4 track cassette machines such as Tascam 144, 244, 424, Portastudio, Fostex etc.
Please note for specific machines the following:
Tascam 144, 244 and 246:
The phase of tracks 2 and 4 are reversed in comparison to 1 and 3. This is a design function by Tascam to minimise crosstalk between channels. The phase of our test tapes are all in alignment. To align your head azimuth on the 244 use tracks 1 and 3 or 2 and 4.
Tascam 144:
For some unexplained reason the track layout on the Tascam 144 is the reverse of standard. So track 1 on our tape will play as track 4 on the 144.
