At the top of the 1968 Sanyo range was the MR-999, a quarter-track stereo recorder with a 6 watts per channel amplifier. The MR-999 was intended for use as a Hi-Fi centre, with inputs provided for magnetic cartridge as well as mic and line.
Features included a 7″ spool capacity, three speeds, sound on sound, sound with sound, automatic shut-off, separate volume controls for each channel, twin VU meters and push-button transport controls.
We service and recover a lot of reel to reels, but this machine was a real dream. It looks so retro and wonderful and is in fantastic condition inside and out. It was a joy to use.
